FRC Mobility Specialist, Yoga Instructor, Personal Trainer
Nicki Irwin is the owner and founder of Shape 4 Life & Satya Yoga offering Personal Training, Yoga & Mobility classes.
She started her fitness journey in her early teens when she realized the importance of improving her own fitness and health. Her interests included running, biking, competitive horseback riding and working out at the gym. In her early 20’s, Nicki successfully competed in fitness competitions and realized her passion in the fitness industry was a calling to fulfil her career goals.
Nicki began her career path gaining certification in Fitness & Lifestyle Management, and then specializing as a Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor. Over several years she developed a well- established portfolio with a broad client base, and became well known in the Durham Region community.
In 2000, at a personal training conference in the USA, Nicki decided to explore her interest in yoga. It was this experience that sparked a new passion in the wellness potential of a mind-body connection.
Nicki acquired certification in Yoga teacher training and dedicated herself to deepening her own personal practice and that of her clients. She then recognized the need to evolve from traditional yoga and incorporate a more movement-based approach to well-being, blending elements of human physiology and biomechanics.
Nicki believes education and self-development is an ongoing priority. She regularly continues to expand her knowledge by attending classes, workshops, conferences, and courses around the globe.
Her aspiration is to guide and help people towards feeling and moving better through functional fitness and integrative health.
Ramona is a very dedicated marathon runner, but several years ago she discovered and fell in love with yoga as a way to stay injury-free and to strengthen her running muscles. Because she comes from a teaching background (specializing in Physical Education), it was a natural progression for her to attain her yoga teaching certification in 2010 and she’s been teaching yoga ever since.
Ramona’s classes incorporate balance, flexibility, strength, and mental focus with dynamic movement in order to enhance communication between mind and muscle. Being sensitive to the needs of her students, Ramona will help you appreciate where you are in your practice and help to foster your growth.
